Family. Business. Success! – Part 1

What would happen if you ran your family like a successful business and your business like a successful family? I believe both would benefit. This week I’ll share some thoughts on applying business practices at home, and next week I’ll offer some ideas on bringing family values to work. I’ve been coaching successful leaders since 1987. Many leadership experts used to view business as analogous to a successful symphony orchestra—both being driven by great leaders directing highly-skilled professionals committed to creating remarkable results. Do It Now…Sometimes Later Becomes Too Late

What have you been meaning to do this year but keep putting off? Are you overdue for a visit to the doctor? Is there an old friend or client you’ve been meaning to take to lunch? Do you have a personal or professional goal that’s important to you but you’re not working on it right now? Why wait? Do it now! Sometimes later becomes too late!!! Ask & Receive

If you ask someone a question, you will receive a response. We have all been taught from an early age to answer questions. Unfortunately, we have not been taught how to ask the right questions at the right time. As a result, most of our conversations are like stones skipping across the water. We only touch the surface of what another person is thinking or feeling. In many cases, the questions used by a leader, spouse or parent aren’t really questions—they’re camouflaged comments. “Don’t you think we should…” or “Don’t you agree?” are usually not questions.
